| | 2008 The Stump Jump RedFebruary 26, 2010 - Norman Bentley#07-10-PIE from d' Arenberg has just recently arrived on our shores, and has improved its score over the previous vintage, which was delightful! A year ago I had the following to say about the 2007 vintage: "The 2007 Stump Jump Red from d'Arenberg is a blended red wine made up of 50% Grenache, 29% Shiraz, and 21% Mourvedre. It has a nose of ripe berries with scents of herbs and spice. The flavor is rich in fruit with a pronounced red berry overtone, surrounded by spice and earthy flavors. The Mourvedre, which is often blended with Grenache in the Rhone area of France, gives the wine a more rounded finish." Robert Parker's score for this wine was an 88. The Wine Spectator score for the 2008 The Stump Jump Red was 90! The Spectator had this to say, "Light in texture and fragrant with floral, berry and beet aromas, this plays its fresh flavors against refined tannins, lingering effortlessly." I found this wine to be delightful, with enough body and structure to pair well with steak, but not too over-powering for Clam Linguine or other pasta dishes!
