Daily traffic enforcement update

The Lee County Sheriff's Office Traffic Unit is providing the information listed below in continuing efforts to increase traffic safety awareness and education, plus to emphasize the importance of obeying traffic laws to reduce traffic crashes, injuries and death on Lee County roads.

Harmony for Habitat raises $3,900 for second island home
Pine Island is by its very definition a community; if you live there, chances are you’re a friend, a brother, a sister to other islanders, who seem to take great pride in knowing each others’ names and extending a helping hand when it’s needed. 

County adds 34 acres to Pine Island Flatwoods Preserve

Lee County has added 34 acres to the Pine Island Flatwoods Preserve, raising the total acreage of the preserve to 669 acres. The land was purchased through the 20/20 Conservation Program and with a $10,000 contribution from the Calusa Land Trust of Pine Island.

Pincher’s Crab Shack purchases 50 percent of Island Crab Company

Pinchers Crab Shack, a family-owned and operated string of restaurants throughout Southwest Florida, purchased a 50 percent share of Island Crab Company on Pine Island in early June.
