Around Pine Island

People come to Pine Island for a variety of reasons — to fish, commune with nature, dine in numerous restaurants or take in a bit of island history.

St. James City, located at the southern tip of the island, is Pine Island’s most heavily populated area.

On clear days you can see Cape Haze and Boca Grande Pass from Bokeelia, at Pine Island's northernmost tip. Tropical fruit and palm tree farms populate the area, which also boasts Pine Island's only golf course. Kayaking and canoeing around the island's bayous is also a very popular activity.

Although it may be "off the beaten path," Pine Island's unique aura attracts a variety of both residents and visitors alike. Once known as the “Forgotten Island,” it has recently been dubbed the "Creative Coast" and has become a mecca for both artists and art lovers, as well as being a hub for fishermen and farmers. Once explored, you will never forget it.
